New kind of Kick...

Mon Mar 23, 2009, 6:25 AM
So yeah, i never write journals in this thing so i thought i might as well make use of it and place an *about me* in this space.
Well, less about me, more about the work i do, these crazy she-demons.

I remember what kicked it off. It was that beautiful lady called Rachael Huntington.
I must have spent most of early 2000 collecting her merchandise and art work, i loved it so much and loved her style. I guess you could say it was also something that kicked off my interest in Goth back then, slowly moving into Deathrock and Psychobilly.

Anyway, on with the story, my work is always influenced by the music i listen to and the way the people dress.
In my very earlier work we had our Goths and our Cyber folk, then as my music started to diverse we moved onto our Deathrockers and Psychobilly chicks.
The names, the style of the characters is always related back to the music i enjoy so much.
I'd like to introduce more people to it so using the lyrics, song names, characters described in the songs, i can bring something new to people who've never listened to it before. I think its nicer then doing the whole *THAT IS NOT GOFF, HOW DARE YOU* yadda yadda, Drama that the people in the scene probably know so much about.
I've had a few people from the old school days see some of my work and go *are those Cramps lyrics?* and hearing that is something that makes me smile.

I like the characters i make to make other people happy, and maybe is a way of also giving something back to the scene i love so much. The people who enjoy the characters, and the humor some have, these 'Mad Daddy's' and 'Bikini Girls with Machine Guns' (subliminal messaging much?), they're all personal to the people who live for the music i do, and i know they enjoy it as they tell me.
Some of the characters and ones to come will bring back happy, maybe sad memories, but each will have a different meaning to the person who sees it.

These are not just random, cute, alternative chicks. With big hair, and fancy makeup, they're a way, i hope, of bringing people together and bring more people into this world i live in.
Its my way of saying thanks ;).

So, Lets get f*cked up!

All I can really say (without giving away my techniques) is that DA is brilliant for inspiration and models to practice getting the female form correct. Then just use your own imagination ;)
